Vision: to Enhance Education
Mission: to improve the lives of children in the Lehigh Valley
and surrounding communities
Project DREAM is an educational enhancement program for schools which has been created and funded by the Harold S. Campbell Foundation. Harold S. Campbell, an accomplished entrepreneur, dreamed of becoming successful and philanthropic and to gift the community with his time, talent and treasure. His model of philanthropy is extended into the DREAM project with his wish to provide opportunities to all children.
The research is clear; children who are exposed to the arts perform better academically. Project DREAM encompasses five themes – drama, reading, education, art and music. The goals of DREAM are to make a difference in the lives of children, implement DREAM enhancement programs in schools and share Harold S. Campbell’s vision for children in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding communities.
With a focus on the arts, project DREAM was initially launched in the Bethlehem Area School District with award winning author and photographer Michael Patrick O’Neill. Michael has been published in National Geographic, Newsweek and Nickelodeon magazines. He is the featured speaker at three elementary schools for the premier of the DREAM Author Days. Launched in June of 2008 DREAM presented a Library Exploration Camp and a week long Theater Camp for children at Miller Heights Elementary School. The DREAM signature program is a theatrical outreach after-school program which will expose children to the art of drama and music and prepare them for performances for senior citizens in the community.
